Values Workshop on Water Street with Charlie Hunter

Come paint the small-town landscape with Charlie Hunter, one today's most celebrated plein air painters. In this entertaining workshop, Charlie Hunter will lead a class focusing on his unique value-intensive approach to painting and composition. Hunter will start with a morning demonstration painting using his limited palette, demonstrating a carefully-observed study in values. The class will then concentrate on their own paintings. At the end of the day, participants gather with their work for spirited critique and discussion.

Meet on Water Street at the HCA (Center for History, Culture and Art), 86 Water Street (between Avenues D and E) and Charlie will select a painting location from there. There is adequate parking along Water Street. The workshop, May 3, starting at 9 am. $95 per person, register online.

Bring a sack lunch or plan to lunch at one of the great cafes in Apalachicola.

Charlie's very comprehensive supply list can be located here. For this single day class, Charlie suggests you grab a tube of Van Dyke Brown (Charlie recommends Cobra brand water-mixable oils) and, if you wish, one of Raw Umber, along with a variety of mark making materials. If you really want to explore Charlie's techniques, order an Ettore 6" squeegee before the class!
