    As a Collector, you are our special guest -and- your contribution goes towards a purchase of art during the Event, dollar for dollar!  

    When you support the Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition (FCCC) through purchase of a Collector package, you not only support arts in our local communities all along the coast, your contribution is also carried on our books as a pre-paid art credit, ready to be applied to any purchase you make of art from one of our venues during the 2019 event.  

    In addition, your Collector package includes invitations to ticketed events as outlined below with the different Collector levels.  

    All our Collectors will be listed in the Commemorative Collectors’ Guide, a full color 8.5”x 11’’ publication detailing the 14th year Celebration of Forgotten Coast en Plein Air accomplishments. 15,000 copies will be distributed to the international plein air community. Visit Florida (the state tourism entity) has provided funding to participate as a sponsor and vendor at the National Plein Air Convention, where the guide will be promoted in a showcase booth in the Exhibition Hall.

    The Online Gallery and Interactive Website is known as a standard for plein air events, being the first and one of the few online galleries which posts art in real time as it is delivered to the “Wetroom”. The website is viewed internationally with growth in 2016 from Australia, Brazil and Canada. In the USA, our strongest increase of users is from New York, California, and Illinois.

    LOCATION: The 2019 Quickdraw will be held at Lighthouse Park on St. George Island, featuring a wide range of exceptional subject matter sure to challenge and delight all artists. Artists may choose from the pristine beaches, charming beach cottages, or the surrounding quaint views. The Lighthouse is located at 2B East Gulf Beach Drive, Eastpoint, FL, on St. George Island. All completed work will be displayed around the lighthouse for judging and sales. Enjoy live music and beautiful scenery at the reception that evening and receive a ticket to this reception included with your participation in the quickdraw. Guest/spouse tickets can be purchased separately online also before the reception. 


    ARTISTS REGISTRATION: Online registration is now open. On site registration begins at 9:00 am EST and the registration fee is $10. This event is open to anyone over the age of 14 who wishes to participate and has their own supplies and easels. You will choose either the Professional or Open Class for the competition. Artists may use any medium, but must paint in the plein air tradition. Canvases must be blank, and design work cannot begin prior to the 10 am horn.

    DATES AND TIMING: Saturday, May 4 - 9:00 am - 9:45 am EST:  Artists check in at the registration desk, pay if they haven’t already, have their blank canvases stamped, and pick up their title & price label.  No canvas will be stamped if painting/design has been begun prior to the starting time.  Deadline for pre-registration is Thursday, May 2nd.

    10:00 am EST:  A horn will sound and artists may begin painting en plein air style on any subject.  The Quickdraw artwork must be created during the Quickdraw time frame.  Any violators will be banned from future events.

    12:00 noon EST:  The horn will sound and the Quickdraw artists bring their just completed artwork and easels to the exhibit/sale area for the judging and sale.  Artists are responsible for returning on time even if they are not within hearing distance of the horn.  There is little turnaround time, so please be prepared with a title and price when the Quickdraw volunteer visits you and establishes your catalog number.

    JUDGING/AWARDS: All artists must be set up for judging by 12:30 pm EST. Judging will begin at 12:30 pm EST and end at 1:30 pm EST. The Quickdraw Awards are announced and ribbons are awarded from the Lighthouse area. 

    SPECIAL QUICKDRAW EXHIBITION FOR 2019: A special exhibition of forty Quickdraw works will be selected by a special Juror and hung at The Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art as a feature of the 2019 event. Please note that all paintings must be properly framed and ready to hang. Volunteers will be available to assist, but artists must provide their own frame ... so plan in advance and bring one with you. The exhibit will be open each day from 11 am to 5 pm, May 5-12, 2019. There is no additional charge to participate in the exhibit and sale.

    SALES: Each artwork is required to be for sale and to have a title and a price written on the provided label.  Each participating artist should consider Forgotten Coast en Plein Air his or her gallery.  There will be a 50% commission collected from the proceeds of each Quickdraw sale to fund this event; any violators will be banned from future events.  Proceeds from our annual plein air event are shared with communities in Franklin and Gulf counties.

    Note: Any work sold prior to 2:00 pm must remain on display until 2:00 pm. Artwork and artist supplies are the sole responsibility of each artist.

    Meet the winning Quickdraw Artists who have works in the Quickdraw’ Gallery upstairs at the historic Center for History, Culture and Arts building in downtown Apalachicola.  All paintings are for sale, and refreshments will be served. Tickets are $20 per person, please register online. Participants in the Quickdraw receive a ticket.
