Joan Vienot Santa Rosa Beach, Florida "The greatest pleasure for me as an artist is the capture of the present moment, a little piece of NOW." |
Joan Vienot loves plein air painting, and she describes it as the most exhilarating but also the most humbling of artistic experiences. As the volunteer coordinator for her local painting group, Joan meets weekly with the Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters to paint somewhere in her two-county area. She feels that painting with a group provides social reinforcement, which helps her maintain a regular practice of outdoor observation and skill-building. Joan served as a Florida’s Finest en Plein Air Ambassador in 2016 and in 2019, and also was honored to be the Artist-in-Residence for the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air in 2019. She credits her degree in Fine Art with teacher certification for providing her with a confident approach when introducing the practice of plein air painting to newcomers. Her home and studio are in Point Washington, FL, 100 miles west of Apalachicola. A selection of Joan’s larger works are exhibited at J.Leon Gallery in Miramar Beach, FL (https://jleongallery.com) and online at https://joanvienot.com. Joan also enjoys stand-up paddleboarding and flatwater kayaking.
